Clash of the Titans The Knights vs The Dominators

On 28th of March, 2009, a world class friendly game between the old The Dominators a.k.a. VNCNUS basketball club and the Knights a.k.a. the VNNTU basketball team.

This is the annual friendly match between the two team so that the students of VNNTU and VNCNUS have a change to strengthen their friendships, show up their talents and encourage the sport spirit inside the two comunities.

Speaking to the media before the game, Mr. Terran, captain of the Knights said:" I'll be missing for the first 2 quarters of the game since I got some personal stuff to attend to, but I believe that my team, will do good even without me."

Meanwhile, when asked, Hanamichi, the ace of the Dominator said:"I come here to see some old friends, but more than that, we will come home victorious."

Enough trash talk, let's roll to the main point, the amageddon when the fresh Knights take on the Dominators.

Line up from the Knights: Next year's captain Tung But as point guard, Segan as shooting guard, Kinh Bich Luat as small forward, Tyran as power forward, Cu Lon Stinger as Center.

Line up from the Dominators: Dong An, Cuong cent, Salamander, Lam Eric, Ngoc Minh.

The Knights started of the game perfectly. The home court gave them the spirit to fight. The Dominators hence, were shock and put in defensive mode. However, the Knights made their very first score from shooting guard (as for now he's still shooting guard), Segan - a perfect throw. Within the next 30 seconds, Tung But and Kinh Bich Luat helped their team carry on with 2 more penetrates and the scoreboard said: 6-0 for the Knights.

There was no other game the Knights started off this good to be honest. The crowd was at their highest climax because they knew the Dominators would come back and play the game their way.

It wasn't wrong. Trailed by 6 points for the first time in history versus VNNTU basketball club, the Dominators' pride was hurt, badly, and they fought back like a storm, with a streak of 14 points to lead the game at 6-14.

They then pinned the first quarter at 8-16, what a come back I would have to say.

During the 2nd quarter, shooting guard Segan of the Knights seemed to lose the feeling and missed quite lots of the shots.
Taking advantage of the opponent's weaknest in experience, the Dominators did quite lots of rebound and fast breaks, to take the game to a whole new level of speed and technique quality.

The 2nd quarter ended up with the Knights trailed by 6 points, 23-29, thanks to the 3-point-play at the buzzer from Segan.
The rest of the game, due to squishy endurance, in additional of being outnumbered and energy burned from the first two quarter, 2 of the Dominators' players went down in cramp.
However, being on the upper side, the appearance of ex. captain Terran still didn't help the home team to take on the lead in the game, since Hanamichi from the away team showed the skill of an NUS basketball team IVP .

The two teams took turn to score and the scoreboard went up points by points, slowly. The 3rd quarter ended up at 27-33.

The 4th quarter was the most boring part of the game. Both teams, got the stat percentage around 25% within the 2-point-paint, even with some easy fast break and lay-up. Thus, the final score was nailed just a bit improved from the 3rd quarter: 31-39.The Knights were lost, by 8 points.

The Dominators walked home, carried the trophy, but there was cloud in their minds, who is this team? how come they grow so fast? They will be the thread for us in the future if we don't keep moving.

We, the Knights players, thanks to all of the fans that came to cheer for us on the game day, as well as the away team, who had made such long journey to our court for the best game of both teams so far. We hope to have more games in the future.
